As more facts and studies unfold I am very interested in finding out how much of a role the damage cap played in encouraging some egregiously unsafe practices by BP. Anybody want to wager whether the 75 million dollar damagess cap factored into their "cost benefit analysis" of deciding to endanger our lives and destroy our property? If you ask me it is yet another example of how government is the entity that prevents the natural discipline of the market and We the People.

Now go fuck yourself. I have a Pennzoil Prawn cocktail to sludge down.

We can't be leaving the very important decisions such as monetary awards in the hands of PEOPLE!!!!! So for their own good, the party of smaller government will take a little of the power away from the PEOPLE because they can't be trusted with it. We will do the same regarding abortions because PEOPLE can't be allowed to make decisions for themselves when we personally know those decisions are wrong.

Obama takes the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy approach to the one thing our government does that is globally loved, admired and respected. Yep we have to hitchhike our way NOT to Mars, but to some rinky dink asteroid presumably to plant our flag on. That's right, even dem dere varmint "terrists" admire our manned space program and Obama killed it so he doesn't look so socialmalist. Ah yes but our largely hated foreign policy he has graciously expanded.

I am employed by a large corporation. One day, not long ago, when they suddenly invented recycling they passed out these little fridge magnets with logos saying, "We recycle!" (Not that making something worth nothing meaning wasting Earth's precious resources to create fridge magnets is a bad thing) So, in the spirit of communication, I thought I'd spread the message. On my magnet I wrote, "Corn, you can wash it off and eat it again!", and placed it on the metal wall of the bathroom stall at work...in the office bathroom, mind you.

Moments later the big shots were spending precious, productive man hours in a hunt for the "graffiti" artist! I was never caught. Nor did they ever "get" that I had, by using a magnet, invented recyclable graffiti and should have more reasonably received some sort of award, rather than face punishment!

I am trying to say, I am not appreciated for my skills and if you thumbtack your nuts to a bulletin board they won't be either!

Big Oil didn't give a shit about market discipline. With the kleptocrats it's all about getting the most plunder through using the least amount of risk. That's why it's not a free market - it's a rigged market.

Government votes it through but I am a fool to think government had anything to do with it. By calling it the democratic process you admit government enacted it and therefore must admit its complicity.

Who helped write the prescription drugs laws enacted in the last ten years? Pharmaceutical Corporations. Ever seen the "plan" BP was required to submit in the case of a deep water oil spill in the gulf? It included rescuing Sea Lions! (Copied from a previous "plan" they were required to turn in regarding oil spills in Alaska.)

DeepSouth makes a good point that no proper corporation gives a dang about the free market...and unless I'm mistaken it's not politicans getting CEO's elected. I must suggest we give corporations the respect they've earned as being the bastard conception of the Devil's own design to destroy us! Our government, is just taking the bribes to go along with it. If WE, the People, could bribe them...I'm sure our politicians would side with us.

Govenrment put all those things into law but you and doug believe only the corporations are to blame because they had the money. I think I will become a hitman for hire because it would be your fault for hiring me. It seems purely arbitrary to blame corporations only and not government.

Nobody bribes the powerless Dan. By your reasoning and admitting that government basically always sells out shouldn't be able to realize that we should no longer support any system that repeatedly does so? I oppose government becuase it ALWAYS caters to corporations. How many times must that be spelled out to you? The idea of a government that will stand up to the big corporations is a silly pipedream. It is utterly disconnected from reality. if you want to strike down monopolies, why CREATE ONE to do so?

What is hilarious, and I haven't stopped laughing, is how you and doug think you are really making digs at me by insulting corporations, Palin, republicans and Reagan. In fact given my posts which have repeatedly denounced all of them I can only assume both of you are being intentionally obtuse.

I do not appreciate any speculation that I "may" be intentionally obtuse when I know damn well that is exactly what I am being! If I were a barn I'd be shouting, "I'm a barn!!!" And the first person who said, "I think that is a barn!", would catch a well thrown cow pie in the puss...if I could only throw but being a barn I'd just have to tolerate the unsure.

I have no clue who you two are and have been nothing but civil with you up to this point. Granted I am familiar with trolling the newbie but quite frankly that is a game for teenagers and I have no interest in playing silly little games with teenagers.

But perhaps I fail to realize civility is a disease that you people here view as something to be treated with a healthy dose of insults, foul temper, and complaints to the mods.

I read a thread dating back to last year (I believe) lamenting the lack of traffic here. It should not be a mystery.

Farfelabc said that I can't be mongoose because I catch on quicker than he does. Perhaps. How he forced himself to endure this forum for so long is beyond me. I do catch on, I am not welcome and most others that dare to disagree with anyone aren't. Given the fact that nearly every thread is a shouting or pissing match here you all should realize why there are fewer Johns here than a whorehouse at an AIDS clinic.

I MADE A GOOD POINT IN THE OP. Doug has made no point other than to refute me by making a rather arbitrary statement and seasoning it with a heaping helping of feces if you actually read the f'n thing. I am pretty easy going when it comes to differing opinions, especially political opinions. My wife is a liberal and dammit she don't want to hear no anarchist bullshit. Oh she's a full package liberal with benefits:  She is a classical socialist. She is for collective ownership and management of the means of production. Being a statist socialist she of course wants government to act as a proxy for ownership and management of the means of production.   She still believes that a government can be of, for and by the people and give us positive rights. Bless her heart. She is even for socialized medicine and financial regulations and dammit she don't to hear none of my anarchist bullshit.

As with her as with all of us, she has different life experiences which has shaped her views. She looks at the world from a different perspective than I do.  This is not a circumstancial ad hominem because the intent is not to dismiss any conclusion or claim but someone who has been poor and disabled all their life will likely have different expectations of someone who is gifted and well off all their life. Who am I to judge who is better or more valid?

Me? Sometimes I take myself too seriously. I try to loosen up and whatever the hell you were quoting sounded silly as all hell.

But I am too curious to understand what "answers" an anarchist can provide to our current world woes. And I hope someday to read them. In that light, my response is;
