Posts: 868 Apr 14 12 2:01 PM	He'd have to pay his way. The Brust situation was unique because of the coaching change and he hadn't played yet. This would fall squarely within the Big Ten rule about intra-conference transfers. He could play at Iowa, but it would be as a walk-on.

In the past, athletes like Sam Okey (who transferred from Wisconsin to Iowa) had to pay their own way and sit out one full season. Good article. Nice piece of journalism. Yay Gazette. Posts: 284 Apr 19 12 11:24 AM	if he says he wants out of Wisconsin and wants to go to Iowa what is stopping him other than Wisconsin not releasing his scholarship? I understand he would have to sit out a year, but other than that is anything truly stopping him? I guess I'm confused if having the scholarship carries any force of law, etc and if Wisconsin could effectively end the guys career by not releasing it. I do know it's a contract to some extent....

He would lose the scholarship for 1 year at Iowa. The catch is that any school denied by Wisconsin can't contact him. Not sure how that would play out......
